Of concertos and English teachers

Wed Oct 28, 2009, 5:45 PM
I haven't typed up a journal since late August. But what of it? There hasn't been much for me to blab about.

But anyway, YEEEEE. Guess who's playing Mozart's Horn Concerto #3 for her future horn recital? I AM SO FRIGGIN' PUMPED. My horn teacher is hereby awesome for picking the piece.

Now let's just hope I don't send Mozart rolling in his grave. Wherever it may be.

Switching subjects, what is it with me and English teachers? Every one I've had for the last three years has been either an annoying spaz, a clinically insane person, or, pardon my language, a complete ditz.

The beginning of what may be a longstanding beef with her may be the constant fact that if we have extra time left after class, and all English homework and all potential studying is done, we are not to read. We are not to take out other homework. Oh no. We are instructed to STARE AT THE WALL for ten minutes.

I really wish I were exaggerating here.

Also, you don't assign To Kill a Mockingbird to 10th grade Honors English just because it's your favorite book. You just don't. People are given this book to read in the seventh grade. Which reminds me, this is the fourth time I have been assigned this book in my school career. I thought it was good the first time. NOW MAKE IT STOP.

At least we're reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest later this year. I've read this book too, but since it hasn't been pounded into my brain and completely dissected to death like TKAM was, it should be okay.

(What's with the bird theme this year?)
